Tyrone Sunken Gardens Project

The results are incredible. Linden Pay It Forward members, Kathy Metivier (pictured right) and Jill Maxwell (pictured below), have been secretly working to restore Tyrone Sunken Gardens to a pristine state. This little know garden is privy to only a few in the Linden/Fenton area. Back in the day, and maybe still, this was the place that underage high school kids would party. Trust me, I lived just down the road at the time and would visit this place regularly. The empty beer cans and liquor bottles gave record to what happened here after dark.

With the effort of these two ladies all stones are readable now. Kathy is hoping to get more weed-whacking done. She has spray painted the wrought iron arch at the top of the hill in black and would like to see letters on it again.

In April 2021 I reached out to Crestwood in Grand Blanc who maintains the property (or lack thereof). I’ve yet to hear back from management. Since Crestwood has also taken over the maintenance of the grounds at Tyrone Memorial Gardens Cemetery the care has been less than satisfactory.

Take a look at the amazing transformation of the headstones and monuments that have been done by Kathy and Jill. If you would like to become actively involved in this maintenance process, reach out to me. Kathy placed mulch at the entrance to help with the mud situation and keeps plugging away at it, little by little.
